SOLAR64 2026.10.11-gl9 — Windows OpenGL compatibility build

For older GPUs such as NVIDIA NVS 310 that cannot use SOLAR64's default
DirectX 12 renderer. This EXE uses the installed vendor's OpenGL driver
through Windows WGL. It does not install or change GPU drivers.

Run SOLAR64-compatibility.exe. No installer or extra DLLs are required.
Provide your own supported Mario Kart 64 and Cruis'n Exotica USA ROMs,
using the existing ROM selection or your saved local ROM folder.

Starts at 1280x720 in Performance mode, with the F2 diagnostics panel open.
The GPU line should identify NVIDIA NVS 310 and the backend should say Gl.
If it shows a Microsoft software adapter, send the screenshot/log.
Administrator privileges are not required.

Includes Infinite laps, permanent Star targets, Test loop/corkscrew track,
and double-tap Down/Left/Right tricks for the Arwing.
F1 opens solo settings; multiplayer host controls shared settings.
Multiplayer server: solarfren.com:5000. Host F6 returns the room to lobby.

This is a compatibility test release. Automatic official-EXE updates are
paused for this build to preserve the OpenGL renderer; download future
compatibility releases manually. Regular signed-update downloads remain
unchanged until this renderer is verified on older Windows hardware.

The race and rainbow Star render were checked on an NVIDIA GPU under Wine.
Performance on an NVS 310 still needs a test on the actual Windows PC.
wgpu's experimental native OpenGL backend can log array-texture warnings
for unused shadow bindings; the checked race rendered correctly.

F2 toggles the on-screen diagnostics. F7 toggles Performance mode.

Aircraft steering has a wider safe lane range, directional wing banking on Test,
and short wingtip air trails. The Test loop exits into a separate side lane.

Selectable Arwing II liveries: original, Red / Black, and Blue / Red.
AI aircraft use spaced preferred lanes and avoid aircraft at their flight height.
Colored-aircraft multiplayer rooms require the latest build on every client.

Exotica scenery now includes every material section, restoring missing ground
and building faces. Boosted car takeoffs automatically trigger a Super Roll or
Super Flip, preserving the ramp jump height and using the stunt boost setting.

Hold Down / Brake while airborne for a quick dive. Under racing-line lock, cars
auto-dive out of high stunts or below overhead obstructions when supported road
is available. Boost, forward velocity and stunt animation continue. Aircraft
dive to a safe lower corridor and return to hover height when released.
Multiplayer names persist locally; browser players can set their name before
launch. The lobby, overhead tags and live right-side race roster share names.
The dedicated server currently runs one shared room, up to eight humans.
